First-Time Client Guide

Your first visit — what to expect.

Your first massage should never feel overwhelming or intimidating. My goal is to make sure you feel informed, comfortable, and fully cared for before you ever step into the treatment room.

This quick guide walks you through what to expect at your first appointment so you can relax and enjoy your session from the start.

Before Your Appointment

  • Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in.

  • You’ll complete a brief intake form to share your health history, areas of focus, and any specific concerns or preferences.

  • We’ll briefly review everything before your session begins so I fully understand your goals and comfort level.

  • If you have any questions beforehand, feel free to reach out — no question is too small.

During Your Session

  • You are always properly draped throughout the entire session.

  • You may undress to your personal comfort level — full undress is never required.

  • You’ll lie comfortably on the massage table with soft music, supportive pillows, and a warm table.

  • Communication is always welcome — I’ll check in with you early in the session to make sure you’re comfortable with how everything feels.

  • You are in full control at all times — your comfort, safety, and boundaries are always my priority.

A Quick Note About Undergarments

Many first-time clients choose to leave undergarments on, and that is absolutely fine.

I do like to educate you ahead of time that keeping a bra on may slightly limit my ability to work certain areas of the back and shoulders due to the straps. This can make your session feel a bit choppier as I work around those areas.

You are always welcome to make the decision that feels most comfortable for you — my job is simply to inform you beforehand so you can choose with confidence.

After Your Session

  • You may feel very relaxed, slightly sore, or tired afterward — this is completely normal.

  • Stay hydrated after your massage to help your body process the work that’s been done.

  • Massage works best when done consistently over time. Your first visit is just the beginning of what ongoing care can offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to talk during my massage?
No — silence or quiet conversation is entirely up to you.

Is it okay if I fall asleep?
YES — absolutely.
Many clients drift off during their session. It’s completely normal, and often a sign that your body feels safe and relaxed enough to fully let go. You’re here to relax, and sleep is always welcome.

Will it hurt?
Massage should never be painful. I'll check in during your session to ensure you’re comfortable.

What should I wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable in. You’ll always be fully draped during your session.

What if I have more questions?
I’m always happy to answer any questions before, during or after your appointment.
