Grief, Emotional Release & Trauma
Creating space for what your body carries.
Massage therapy is often seen as physical work — but your body carries far more than just muscle tension.
Grief, emotional strain, trauma, and stress don’t simply live in the mind — they live in the body too.
This space was created with the understanding that sometimes what needs healing isn’t just physical.
How Emotions Show Up in the Body
-
Grief can feel like heaviness in the chest or shoulders.
-
Anxiety may present as clenched muscles, jaw tension, or restlessness.
-
Trauma can create chronic guarding, muscle tightness, or areas that feel “stuck.”
-
Ongoing stress can keep your nervous system in a state of constant alert, leaving your body unable to fully relax.
Massage therapy creates an opportunity for your body to release some of what it's holding — sometimes in ways you may not expect.
Emotional Release is Normal
It is not uncommon for emotions to surface during or after a massage session. You may experience:
-
Tears
-
Waves of sadness, grief, or relief
-
Feelings of vulnerability
-
Unexpected memories or emotions
-
A sense of lightness or deep peace
This is not a sign that anything is “wrong.” It’s simply your body and nervous system allowing space to release what may have been held inside.
This Is a Judgment-Free Space
-
You do not need to apologize for your emotions.
-
You do not need to suppress or hide what comes up.
-
You are always welcome to sit with your feelings, take space, or pause your session if needed.
-
You are fully in control at all times.
Massage and Trauma-Informed Care
While massage therapy is not a substitute for mental health counseling or trauma therapy, it can be a supportive part of your overall care.
-
I honor your boundaries at all times.
-
I avoid techniques that may feel triggering or invasive.
-
Communication and consent are ongoing throughout every session.
-
You always have the right to say stop, adjust positioning, or modify techniques at any point.
If You Are Grieving
Many of my clients come to this work while navigating personal loss, including:
-
Loss of a loved one
-
Pregnancy or infant loss
-
Major life transitions
-
Ongoing grief from life changes
-
Massage therapy is not here to take your grief away — but to support your nervous system, create moments of rest, and hold space for healing in ways words often cannot.
🌿 You are not broken. Your body is not the enemy. Your healing does not need to be rushed.
If you're navigating grief, emotional overwhelm, or trauma, I am honored to create space where your body can begin to soften, release, and simply breathe.
