What to Expect During Your Infant Massage Session
Your baby’s session is calm, gentle, and completely baby-led. Nothing is rushed, nothing is forced — we follow your little one’s cues and keep the environment soothing and supportive. This is always a team effort between myself and you as the parent or caregiver. We work together every step of the way.
A Soft, Cozy Setup
Your baby will be on a padded surface with soft linens. Lights are low, the room is warm, and everything is created to help them feel safe, grounded, and calm.
A Quick Check-In
We begin by talking about your baby — sleep patterns, feeding, tummy concerns, muscle tension, birth history, what you’ve been noticing, and what brought you in. This helps me understand their needs and create a plan that supports their little body.
Gentle, Targeted Work — Not an Adult-Style Full Body Massage
Infant massage is not a full-body routine like adults receive. Babies have developing muscles, joints, and nervous systems. Their bodies respond strongly to very small amounts of touch, and too much stimulation at once can overwhelm them. They don’t need full-body work — they need careful, intentional, specific support.
A lot of what I do may look subtle, but it is deeply purposeful. Babies communicate differently — through breath, muscle tone, reflexes, tension, movement, and tiny cues that most people miss.
That’s why this part deserves to stand out:
✨ My hands become your baby’s voice.
They can’t tell you what hurts, what feels tight, or what doesn’t feel right — but I can feel it.
I’m here to vocalize what they can’t. ✨
We are working with tiny humans, so the smallest stretch, gentle hold, or micro-adjustment can create meaningful change.
And always, we never force anything your baby isn’t receptive to.
The goal is to help their body feel safe — not overload their nervous system.
Parent Involvement
You are an important part of the process, and consistency is the key to progress. I teach you exactly what I’m doing and why, so you can confidently continue the techniques at home.
But I also want your baby to feel comfortable with me.
Parents don’t need to jump to every wiggle or little cry.
Movement and sound are communication — not always distress.
Often, giving your baby a moment to settle (with my comforting techniques) helps them build trust in me too. You’re right beside us the entire time, but you can breathe and allow me to guide your baby gently and safely.
Baby-Led Breaks
If your baby needs to feed, reset, or be held — we stop.
Fussiness is communication, and we honor it. Your baby sets the pace, always.
Teamwork + Follow-Up
Most babies come because something in their little bodies needs support — tension, digestive struggles, alignment concerns, difficulty settling, overstimulation, or a combination of things.
This is why teamwork matters:
-
You update me between sessions
-
We track the changes you notice
-
Follow-up visits allow us to reassess and introduce new techniques
-
At-home consistency reinforces the work
Progress happens through partnership.
Take-Home Support
Before you leave, you’ll receive personalized techniques and clear guidance so you feel confident supporting your baby between visits.
What Infant Massage Is Not
(So expectations are clear)
Infant massage is NOT:
-
A spa-style massage
-
A deep-tissue or pressure-based session
-
A full-body adult-style routine
-
Chiropractic or PT manipulation
-
Stretching your baby into positions they are not ready for
-
A “quick fix” done in one session
-
A replacement for medical care when the baby is in pain or ill
It is gentle, nervous-system-safe, targeted work designed specifically for infants.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
A few simple things help your baby feel calm and comfortable:
-
Dress your baby in something easy to remove
-
Bring a favorite blanket or comfort item
-
Bring them fed OR ready to feed during the session
-
Arrive a few minutes early so they can settle
-
If your baby is sick, please reschedule — their body needs rest
-
If they nap during the session, that’s okay — we adjust
-
You’re welcome to ask questions before, during, and after
This makes the experience smoother and more relaxing for both of you.
Common Reasons Parents Book Infant Massage
You are not alone — most parents come in for one or more of these:
-
Gas, constipation, reflux, digestive discomfort
-
Torticollis tendencies or favoring one side
-
Stiffness, tight hips or neck, limited movement
-
Difficulty settling or regulating
-
Trouble sleeping
-
High startle reflex
-
Nervous system overload
-
Tension from birth (tight space, long labor, breech positioning, etc.)
-
Babies who seem “uncomfortable” but can’t express why
Your concerns are valid — and we address them gently and intentionally.
A Final Reassurance
Every baby is different.
Every little body tells a story.
We move at their pace, and progress happens through consistency, patience, and teamwork.
You’re doing an amazing job — and I’m honored to support you and your tiny human on this journey.
