HOST A FITNESS CLASS AT THE SELF-CARE EXPO

  • Interested in bringing movement, fitness, and another form of self-care to The Self-Care Expo?

  • We’re opening select time slots for fitness instructors to host a class during the event. This can include dance fitness, cardio, strength, HIIT, pilates, stretching, mobility, yoga-style movement, and other fitness/wellness classes that work well in the event environment.

  • Seeking instructors that can bring in a minimum of 20 participants.

💪🏽 THE FITNESS CLASS AREA

  • Classes will take place inside Lincoln Park Arena on the turf field.

  • The fitness area will be a designated section of the main vendor field, approximately 40' x 40'.

  • Each instructor is responsible for determining the appropriate number of participants their class can safely and comfortably accommodate within the available space. Class size may vary depending on your class format, movement requirements, and any equipment being used.

  • Please keep in mind that this is not a private studio setting. The Expo will be happening around you with vendors, attendees, music, conversations, announcements, and general event activity.

  • Your class must be appropriate for the size and environment of the space. Classes that require an extremely quiet atmosphere may not be the best fit.

🎶 MUSIC, AUDIO & EQUIPMENT

Fitness hosts are responsible for providing any equipment needed for their class (or instruct attendees to bring), including things such as:

  • Mats

  • Weights

  • Steps

  • Resistance bands

  • Props

  • Speakers/audio equipment

  • Any other class-specific supplies

A wireless/Bluetooth speaker is preferred whenever possible due to limited electrical access within the arena.

There is limited electrical access, with approximately one outlet available near the fitness area, so please plan accordingly.

If you are using music or a microphone, volume must remain at a respectful level since the class will be taking place within the overall Expo.

💵 HOSTING YOUR CLASS

There is no fee to host a fitness class at The Self-Care Expo.

You may choose to:

  • Offer your class for free

  • Charge a drop-in/class fee

  • Require advance registration

  • Allow walk-ins

Use the class to introduce attendees to your fitness business or services.

You are responsible for collecting your own class fees and managing your own registrations/sign-ups.

One of the reasons we are able to offer fitness-class hosting at no cost to instructors is because these classes are intended to help create another experience for attendees while also bringing additional people into the Expo.

Because of this, we are looking for instructors who are comfortable actively promoting their class and confident in their ability to bring participants out for their scheduled session.

There is never a guaranteed attendance number, but hosts should come into the opportunity with the intention of building and promoting a strong class—not simply relying on Expo foot traffic to fill the session.

📣 PROMOTING YOUR CLASS

  • Fitness hosts are responsible for actively promoting their class and encouraging people to register or attend.

  • The Self-Care Expo will also help promote your class by sharing the flyer, registration link, social-media posts, or other promotional material you provide.

  • This is a collaboration. You are bringing your community into the Expo, and the Expo is giving you the opportunity to introduce your class and business to a new audience.

  • The more we all promote, the better the overall experience for everyone involved.

⏰ YOUR TIME SLOT

  • Each fitness host receives a one-hour time slot.

  • Your one-hour block includes any setup, class time, and cleanup needed within the fitness area, so please plan your class accordingly.

  • Hosts should arrive approximately 15–20 minutes before their scheduled time so you are ready to transition into the space.

  • Classes must end on time so the next scheduled host can begin.

⚠️ SAFETY & RESPONSIBILITY

  • Fitness hosts are responsible for conducting their class safely and appropriately for participants.

  • You are also responsible for determining a safe participant capacity based on the 40' x 40' space, class format, equipment, and amount of movement required.

  • Participants should be encouraged to work within their own abilities and modify exercises as needed.

✨ READY TO HOST?

  • Complete the form below with information about you, your business, the type of class you would like to offer, and your preferred time slot.

  • Submitting the form does not automatically guarantee a time slot. Classes will be reviewed to make sure they are a good fit for the Expo, offer variety throughout the day, and align with the overall event experience.

What We’re Looking For

Because fitness class space is being offered at no cost to instructors, we are looking for instructors who are excited to collaborate, actively promote their class, and help bring additional attendees into The Self-Care Expo.

As part of the application review, we may visit the social media pages and/or website you provide to learn more about you, your class, and your business.

We are looking for things such as:

  • Active social media pages with recent and consistent activity

  • Content that shows you are currently teaching, training, coaching, or actively involved in fitness/wellness

  • Engagement with your clients, class participants, followers, or community

  • Evidence that you actively promote your classes, events, services, or programs

  • A professional and established online presence that allows us to get a feel for your business and what you offer

  • A class or fitness style that aligns with the overall self-care, health, fitness, and wellness focus of the Expo

You do not need a huge social media following to be considered. We understand that strong instructors and businesses come in all sizes. We are more interested in seeing that your pages are active, current, and connected to a community you are willing to promote your class to.

Since one of the goals of offering these complimentary class spaces is to help bring people into the Expo, preference may be given to instructors who demonstrate that they are prepared to actively market their class and encourage their own community to attend.

Please make sure the social media pages and website submitted with your application are public and accessible for review.

REGISTRATION & PRICING

If your class is approved, you will be responsible for creating and managing your own class registration. Your class may be free or paid, and you will determine the number of participants you can safely accommodate within the approximately 40' x 40' fitness space.

Once your class and time slot are confirmed, please create your registration page and email the direct registration link, along with the number of spaces available for your class, to angelajessie@massageislifellc.com no later than September 10th.

Your registration page should clearly include:

  1. Class name

  2. Confirmed date and time

  3. Location

  4. Cost, if applicable

  5. Number of available spaces

  6. Any equipment or items participants should bring

  7. Any age, fitness-level, or participation requirements

You may also submit your own class flyer in the same email.

The Self-Care Expo will create an official class announcement using the logo and photos you submitted with your application. If you choose to submit your own flyer, we will also use and share that flyer as part of your class promotion.

Please make sure your registration link is submitted by September 10th so we have enough time to begin promoting your class and directing attendees to register.

The Self-Care Expo will use the registration link you provide when helping promote your class. All registrations, payments, participant communication, cancellations, and refunds are managed directly by the instructor.
